We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.

By using Formats, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our services.

We use your information for the following purposes:

• Service Delivery: To provide, maintain, and improve our video editing platform
• Account Management: To create and manage your account, authenticate users, and provide customer support
• Content Processing: To process the media you explicitly submit to server-backed AI features; ordinary projects and imported media stay in your local workspace
• AI Features: To provide features you request, such as automatic captions, generated voices, voice cloning, and AI avatars
• Communications: To send service updates, security alerts, and respond to your inquiries
• Analytics: To understand usage patterns and improve our platform's performance and features
• Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and violations of our terms
• Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms of service

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your content is stored using industry-standard encryption and secure cloud infrastructure.

Storage Infrastructure: We use Cloudflare's global infrastructure for hosting and content delivery. Your data may be stored and processed in data centers located primarily in the United States and other global locations as part of Cloudflare's network.

Third-Party Services: We use providers including Cloudflare for infrastructure, Google for authentication, Dodo Payments for billing, and specialist AI providers for features you choose to run. They may process data in multiple jurisdictions.

Data Security: We comply with reasonable security practices and procedures as required under Indian law. All data transmissions are encrypted using SSL/TLS protocols.

Retention: We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. You can delete your Formats account from the account menu. Deletion immediately cancels current subscriptions and removes Formats-hosted account data and AI artifacts. Projects and media in your local workspace remain on your device. Dodo Payments retains invoices, payment, refund, and related merchant records where required by tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other laws. Remaining purchased credits are not refunded or paid out on deletion; they remain associated with the verified billing identity so they can be restored if the same account is recreated. Account deletion is temporarily unavailable while a payment refund or dispute is under active review. Payment risk records remain associated with the billing identity for reconciliation.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With third-party vendors who help us operate our platform (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processing, analytics)
• AI Services: With AI service providers to deliver features like automatic transcription and content generation
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
• With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share your information

Data Protection: Our service providers, including Cloudflare, maintain certifications and comply with international data protection standards to ensure your data is handled securely across all jurisdictions.
